Scrap metal collector finds dead body

An inquest docket has been opened after the dead body of a man was found by a scrap metal collector at a bush on Train Road in Crossmoor, KwaZulu-Natal.

Provincial police spokesperson Colonel Jay Naicker said police responded to a complaint of a dead body yesterday at about 9am. On arrival at Road 1104, police discovered the unidentified man lying near a ravine in Crossmoor. At this stage, police are seeking the deceased`s next-of-kin.

According to one of the residents at the scene, the man is believed to be have been a gardener in the area, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

In a separate incident, a case of murder was opened after the body of a man was found with a gunshot wound to the head in Leachville, near the Leeupan dam in Brakpan, Gauteng, last month.

Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) spokesperson Chief Superintendent Wilfred Kgasago said the unidentified man, estimated to be in his early 40s and neatly dressed, appeared to have been killed execution-style.

He added the body was sighted by community members. They informed the police they had heard a shot the previous evening at about 7pm during loadshedding. No form of identity was found on the body.
