In a separate incident, nearly 50 commuters had to find alternative transport after a bus they were travelling in caught fire on the Old Warmbaths Road, Hammanskraal, in northern Gauteng, in January.
Motorist Andre Knoetze said commuters were standing outside the burning bus just after 6am. Traffic was still moving steadily but was slowly piling up.
Tshwane Metro emergency services spokesperson Johan Pieterse said no one was injured in the fire.
