Burglars ‘in and out’ of adult shop
A well-known adult shop in Krugersdorp, on the West Rand, was burgled on Monday morning.
An unknown number of suspects reportedly gained access to the Adult World shop through the small bathroom window on the side of the shop at about 12am on Monday, Krugersdorp News reported.
The safe and till were demolished by the suspects, who managed to get away with an undisclosed amount of cash and other merchandise.
It is believed the sound of the alarm had caused the criminals to panic as, in their haste, they left behind the grinder they used to gain access. Toys, paper and videos were strewn on the floor after the suspects had fled the scene.
Various kinds of condoms and pills were also found scattered across the alley next to the shop.
Workers at the shop claimed it was the second burglary in the last seven years. The management of the shop said they were looking at tightening security.
In June last year, an Australian shop manager was pelted with sex toys by an intruder wearing a wig and crotchless pants during an adult store robbery.
The man forced his way into the Brisbane adult shop through the roof in the early hours of the morning, setting off the alarm.
“Upon being disturbed, the man threw a number of items he was attempting to steal out of his hands and proceeded to climb back through the roof,” police said in a statement.
“Police located the man climbing down from the roof of the business.”
He was charged with breaking and entering and drug possession offences.
