Popular ‘Amapiano’ duo launch banging EP
The duo says their nine-track EP was made with the intention of making people dance.
Popular amapiano duo Mellow and Sleazy from Soshanguve and Ga-Rankuwa are winning the hearts of the amapiano lovers in the country with their music.
Mellow and Sleazy launched their EP Midnight in Sunnyside at Rockets Menlyn recently.
“This EP is a mixture of Bacardi and amapiano to make people dance,” the pair said.
Their nine-track EP was made in the heart of Pretoria, which barely sleeps, Sunnyside.
According to Sleazy, the offering was inspired by their love for Bacardi music because “that’s all that we listen to”.
They worked with artists which include DJ Maphorisa, Nkosazana, Young Stunna, Bontle RSA, Murumba and Dj Diza, among others.
The pair also worked with Mongezi Stuurman, popularly known as Mpura, who passed away in a tragic accident in August 2021.
During the launch, the pair were also presented with plaques for their previous singles.
Their single “10111” went gold while “Bopha” went double platinum.
“We are very humbled and grateful to God. This all happened so quickly and we didn’t expect it at all,” they said.
Another single which sent many into a tizzy was “Nkao Tempela”.
When the pair, which “clicked” upon their first meeting three years ago, is not working on new music or performing, they enjoy the simpler things in life and taking it easy.
“I’m just an ordinary person from Pretoria who, apart from music, loves soccer and does not bother people,” Sleazy said.
Mellow described himself as a “laid-back person, I’m happy”.
