JAC Motors is celebrating a major achievement – the 300 000th JAC T-Series bakkie has rolled off the production line. It took just two years to produce the final 100 000 units, highlighting the increasing demand for JAC’s T-Series bakkies internationally.
This significant milestone coincides with the company’s 60th anniversary, marking a remarkable journey of growth and innovation.
Commenting on this achievement, Feng Liangsen, the general manager of JAC Motors’ pickup division, attributed the success to the company’s dedication to independent operation, transformation and global development. He emphasised that it’s a testament to the hard work and collaboration of the entire team.
JAC Motors has established itself as a major exporter of vehicles, supplying bakkies, passenger cars and trucks to over 132 countries. South Africa, a key right-hand-drive market for JAC, was the first to launch the new T9 bakkie.
The T-Series currently offers three double-cab options – the T6, T8 and the T9 – all available in 4×2 and 4×4 configurations. The range is set to expand further with introducing the T6 single-cab derivatives by the end of 2024 and T8 eight-speed automatic models in early 2025.
JAC Motors holds the second position in China’s domestic pickup market. In 2023, the company witnessed a significant increase in domestic and international sales, driven by strong performances in Latin America, the Middle East, Central Asia and Africa.

JAC is also a frontrunner in electric vehicle technology. At the 2024 Beijing Automotive Show, the company unveiled a battery-powered version of the T9 with a driving range of 500km. This eco-friendly bakkie boasts a powerful battery and dual electric motors, offering exceptional performance and sustainable transportation.
“The luxurious T9 is a game-changer in the leisure double-cab segment,” said Karl-Heinz Göbel, JAC Motors South Africa’s CEO. “Packed with features and starting at a competitive price of only R549 900, it delivers extraordinary value to our customers.”
Since its 2017 debut in South Africa, JAC Motors has expanded its offerings to include T-Series bakkies, X-Series trucks and electric trucks. With over 70 dealerships across Southern Africa, JAC Motors is a well-established brand offering a diverse range of vehicles.
