3 new flight routes connect SA to popular destinations

Travelling from SA is about to become a lot easier and faster with these new flight routes.

Exciting times are ahead for travel-lovers, as South Africa is going to be a lot more connected this year, thanks to the launch of routes from major local cities.

  1. Downunder in under 11 Hours

One of the biggest additions to South Africa’s 2026 flight map is Qantas’ new direct Johannesburg to Perth service. This flight operates three times weekly and cuts travel time to under 11 hours, making Western Australia more accessible than ever.

It’s a game-changer for travellers visiting family, exploring Australia’s coastline, or heading over for business. Qantas’ domestic network also makes it easy to connect onward to other Australian cities and New Zealand.

  1. Hello Brazil

Planning a trip to South America? You’ll soon be able to reach it without lengthy stopovers.

LATAM Airlines is launching direct, thrice-weekly São Paulo to Cape Town flights in September 2026, creating a new gateway to Brazil, Argentina, and Peru.

This route opens the door to Amazon adventures, Carnival season, and energetic South American cities with a much simpler journey.

  1. Spanish sun, sea and sangria awaits

Spain is becoming easier to reach in 2026, with Air Europa launching non-stop Johannesburg to Madrid flights from 24 June 2026.

Operating three times weekly on Boeing 787 Dreamliners, this route makes it simpler to reach Spain’s capital and connect onward across Europe, North Africa, and the Canary Islands.
