Watch: On board with the Pikes Peak-winning Ford Mustang

Get behind the steering wheel as the Blue Oval's Mach-E EV is crowned King of the Mountain at the 104th Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

French racing driver Romain Dumas and Ford Racing emerged victorious at the 104th iteration of The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb; reaching the summit in 8:18.202 minutes behind the wheel of the number 125 Super Mustang Mach-E EV demonstrator. This marks Dumas’ sixth King of the Mountain title and Ford Racing’s second overall Pikes Peak victory.

Additionally, Dumas also won the new Unlimited – Production Based class, a highly-modified division created for extreme competition vehicles that retain a resemblance to a production or street-legal vehicle. The 20km course comprises 156 turns and a 1 440m elevation gain before reaching the 4 302m summit.

Developed in partnership with STARD, the Super Mustang Mach-E is powered by three STARD UHP 6-Phase motors, developing 1 044kW and a tarmac-shredding 3 118Nm of twisting force, delivered to all four wheels – the latter shod in Pirelli tyres. Its 50kWh battery supports up to 710kW of regenerative braking. The all-electric racecar features a radical aerodynamic package that generates approximately 5.4T of downforce at 322km/h, making it the highest-downforce vehicle to be tested at Pikes Peak.
