Tata Osprey lands in SA with R249 900 starting price
A turbocharged petrol engine, two transmission options and generous standard equipment give a compact newcomer plenty of appeal in a value focused market.
The Tata Osprey has officially arrived in South Africa, with the four-model range priced from R249 900 to R329 900.
Car Magazine had an exclusive first look at the Osprey ahead of its local launch. The newcomer is powered across the range by a 1.2l turbocharged petrol engine producing 88kW and 170N.m, with drive sent to the front wheels through either a five-speed manual gearbox or seven-speed dual-clutch transmission.

The local Osprey range starts with the Smart+ manual at R249 900 and tops out with the Creative+ PS DCS at R329 900. The Smart+ DCA costs R279 900, while the Creative DCA is priced at R309 900.
All models come standard with Tata’s five-year/125 000 km warranty and a three-year/45 000 km service plan.

The entry-level Smart+ comes equipped with a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with tethered Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, manual air conditioning, rear park-distance sensors, LED daytime-running lights and 16-inch wheels. Six airbags are standard across the range.
Stepping up to Creative specification brings a 10.25-inch Harman infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a four-speaker audio system, automatic climate control with rear air vents, a cooled glovebox, driver’s seat height adjustment and cruise control.
The Creative also adds a 360-degree surround-view camera and blind-spot monitoring, while 16-inch alloy wheels replace the entry-level model’s standard wheels.
At the top of the range, the Creative+ PS adds a panoramic sunroof, two-tone exterior paint, automatic LED headlamps, rain-sensing wipers, keyless entry and ignition, wireless smartphone charging, a rear centre armrest and 60:40-split rear seats. Tyre-pressure monitoring is also standard on the flagship derivative.
