Hyundai Staria gets sharper looks and bigger screens in facelift

A popular people carrier returns with a fresh look and a more modern cabin.

Hyundai Automotive South Africa has launched the facelifted Staria range, featuring updated styling, upgraded cabin technology and a revised five-model lineup, reports The Citizen.

The range features updated exterior styling, a refreshed interior and upgraded infotainment systems across all variants.

Executive commentary on the update

“The Hyundai Staria has always offered South African customers a different vision of what a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) can be,” says Hyundai Automotive South Africa CEO Stanley Anderson.

“This facelift strengthens that proposition, giving customers more technology, greater comfort and an even more distinctive vehicle without losing the versatility that makes Staria so appealing.”

Exterior design refinements

Most of the exterior changes are concentrated at the front, which gets redesigned bumpers and radiator grilles. The new grille design is intended to improve cooling and aerodynamics.

The Staria’s signature horizontal daytime running light has also been redesigned, with the previous three-part treatment integrated into a cleaner light signature.

Other exterior changes include new wheel designs and revised rear bumper garnish.

Dual-display digital cockpit

Inside, the two 10.25-inch screens have been replaced by dual 12.3-inch displays integrated into a redesigned dashboard and front fascia.

The updates also include a new steering wheel and other cabin revisions.

Turbodiesel engine specifications

The 2.2l turbodiesel engine remains unchanged, producing 130kW and 430Nm. Power is sent to the front wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission.

Hyundai claims fuel consumption of 8l/100km.

“The facelifted Hyundai Staria combines passenger-carrying capability with the comfort, technology and refinement expected by today’s customers,” says Hyundai Automotive South Africa sales director Johan Nel.

“For business users, our dedicated fleet operation also adds tailored solutions, account support and access to a nationwide network of 100 dealerships.”
