Forget Botox and think facial yoga — here’s why
Combating wrinkles has become a whole lot less invasive thanks to facial yoga.
Facial yoga is the hottest trend straight from the States. Created by New York–based yoga teacher Annelise Hagen, it is said to be more effective than Botox — and it’s free!
Simply try the following exercises daily:
- Puff out your cheeks and transfer air from cheek to cheek until you’re out of breath. Repeat three times.
- Widen your eyes without wrinkling your forehead, then focus on the horizon for ten seconds. Repeat four times.
- Many different methods recommend inversion as an excellent way to increase blood flow to your head. This allows oxygenated blood to reach your brain, ears, eyes and face, which can improve the health and appearance of your skin and muscles by stimulating your lymphatic system.
- Make a steam treatment with crushed basil leaves (which are antibacterial) and fresh lemon juice in a large bowl of boiling water. Hold your face about 30 cm above the bowl, covering your head with a towel to trap the steam. This will moisturise your skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.
