The Greytown Regional Court in KZN on Friday sentenced two men for rape.

A man has been jailed for life after he was found guilty of raping his step-sister, who was 10 at the time, four times in October 2022.

The 28-year-old man, who cannot be named to protect the victim, would rape his step-sister when she returned from school. She eventually reported the attacks to her mother who called the police.

The case was investigated by detective Sergeant Richard Gilder of the Greytown Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit.

The court also declared him unfit to possess a firearm.

In a separate case heard on the same day, Siphesihle Siziba (28) was also jailed for life for rape and five years for kidnapping.

Siziba forced an 18-year-old woman into his house after attacking her while she was walking with her sister on Bell Street in September 2023. He kept her in his house overnight and raped her.

That case was also successfully investigated by Gilder.

Major General Francis Slambert, the Umzinyathi District commissioner, congratulated the great work done by the investigating officer and everyone else involved in solving these cases.
