A remarkable teamwork between Mondeor police, Community Policing Forum (CPF) patrollers, Capital Air, Chubb, Special Operations Group (SOG) security and D&D tactical security service resulted in the arrest of the suspects within 15 minutes of their crime,Comaro Chronicle reported.
It was alleged five males held up residents and contractors at a house in Ouderberg Street, in Glenvista at about 8:45am.
They made off with cell phones and other goods while the victims were tied up with cables.
The suspects allegedly did not realise that two of the contractors were CPF patrollers. Two contractors were said to have immediately contacted the CPF.
CPF members, police and security companies surrounded the area, and arrested three of the five suspects.
The Glenvista CPF commended the patrollers and police and security companies for a quick, organised and successful response.
The search for the other two suspects who fled the scene, would continue.
In a separate incident last month, two men and a woman were arrested for allegedly committing two mall robberies Gauteng.
Apart from being linked to the two mall robberies, police believed the three were part of a larger gang, with police searching for other members.
The three suspects were arrested in Yeoville, Johannesburg, in a crime intelligence-driven operation.
