4 shot dead in Hibberdene

The motive behind the murder of four men and the attempted murder of two others is still being investigated by police.

Police are investigating a quadruple murder in Mgangeni near Hibberdene, south of Durban.

According to SAPS spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile Gwala, just over a week ago police were dispatched to a house following a report of multiple gunshots.

Four victims were found dead in the house.

Gwala says charges of murder and attempted murder have been opened for investigation at Hibberdene Police Station.

“It is alleged that three unknown gunmen entered the house and opened fire on six men.

“Four men, aged between 19 and 30, were declared dead at the scene. The fifth victim was taken to hospital, while the sixth escaped unharmed.”

Gwala says the motive for the killings is yet to be established.

No arrests have been made.
