4 taxi operators arrested after man’s assault in Limpopo
Four taxi operators were arrested for kidnapping, extortion, and assault after allegedly attacking a motorist in Nobody.
Four taxi operators were arrested for kidnapping, extortion, and assault after allegedly attacking a motorist in Nobody, Ga-Mothapo, yesterday.
According to Polokwane Review, Limpopo Provincial Tracking Team members were patrolling the area when they noticed two Toyota Quantums blocking a maroon SUV.
Upon intervention, officers found a 48-year-old man being assaulted, allegedly by four taxi operators.
The victim alleged that the suspects accused him of operating an unregistered taxi and demanded R2 500 before releasing him.
He later opened a case against the suspects, who are affiliated with the Mankweng Taxi Association.
The suspects, aged 30 to 48, were arrested on the spot and will soon appear in the Mankweng Magistrate’s Court.
Police investigations are ongoing.
