Alleged pub robber still at large

A manhunt has been launched after a pub was robbed of R9 000 in Winklespruit, KwaZulu-Natal.

A man allegedly entered Dalene’s Pub through a back entrance and confronted the manager at about 10am yesterday, South Coast Sun reported.

“He pushed her aside, went behind the counter and took two tins, which contained the previous day’s takings and fled on foot,” said Toti police communications officer Captain Charlene van der Spuy.

Van der Spuy added the alleged pub robber was known and was employed as a gardener by the pub owner.

“As he was absent from work for three days, when he entered, the manager was under the impression that he was looking for the owner,” said Van der Spuy

No weapon was used, and the victim sustained no injuries.

Investigation are ongoing.

Early this month, two suspects were arrested in connection with an armed robbery in Delportshoop, Northern Cape.

The suspects, aged 20 and 26, allegedly entered a tuck shop owned by a foreign national and pointed a firearm at the owner.

They made off with an undisclosed amount of money, airtime vouchers and two cellphones, police said.
