Biker with heavy drug load chased down in George

The 35 year old suspect is still in custody and will appear in the George Magistrates’ court on Monday, 11 January.

The police confiscated 6 000 Mandrax tablets with an estimated street value of R300 000 from a motorcyclist following a street chase in Knysna Road, Geroge on Saturday morning.

The narcotics section of the Provincial Organised Crime Detectives responded to information on a motor cyclist that was en route from Cape Town with a consignment of drugs.

“The motorcyclist notice the police members while entering George and turned onto an off-ramp in an attempt to evade the police. A chase ensued and the vigilant members managed to stop (blocked in) the motor cycle at Knysna Road, George,” said Police Spokesperson Sergeant Christopher Spies.

“Upon searching the suspect the members found the consignment Mandrax tablets in his possession. The police confiscated the drugs and arrested the suspect on a charge of dealing in drugs.”

The 35 year old suspect is still in custody and will appear in the George Magistrates’ court on Monday, 11 January.
