Body found on railway line in Carletonville

Randfontein police are investigating a case of murder after the body of man was found on the train tracks of a Carletonville railway in western Gauteng on Tuesday.

The man, identified as Lucky Titus was last seen on 30 October around 7pm, Randfontein Herald reported.

Titus’ mother, Cynthia said she went to view her son’s body at the Government Mortuary in Roodepoort.

She said she was more saddened by the manner in which her son had died.

“They took my son and they beat him,” she said.

It was alleged that the deceased had been tortured, his hands and feet bound, before he was pushed in front of the train.

Titus’ mother added that the funeral was forced to feature a closed casket as a result of the extensive facial injuries her son sustained from both the train and the torture he allegedly endured.

“I can’t let people see him like this,” she said.

The funeral has been set for 15 November in Mohlakeng.

In a separate incident last month, a man crossing railway tracks was struck by train in KwaZulu-Natal.

The unidentified victim’s left arm and both his legs had been ripped off due to the impact of the train ploughing into him.
