The body of a teenager was found in the Ncandu River in KZN on Friday morning after an extensive search.
Shaibu Rajab (16) had been missing since Tuesday. The discovery followed an extensive search operation along the river and its banks, Northern Natal News reports.
The search, which had been ongoing for three days, involved the combined efforts of multiple organisations, security forces, and community members.
The recovery operation was a collaborative effort involving Resec Security, the CCPA, Ithemba Security, SAPS PMB Search and Rescue, NHF Newcastle, members of the Newcastle CPF, SAPS Vryheid Search and Rescue, Newcastle SAPS, Ladysmith SAPS Search and Rescue and the broader Newcastle community.
“We express our heartfelt gratitude to all the role players for their unwavering commitment and tireless work during this difficult time,” said Sandile Mdluli, public relations officer for the Newcastle CPF.
“Our thoughts are with Shaibu’s family and loved ones as they navigate through this difficult period.”
