Covid-19: 1 407 new confirmed cases and 16 deaths recorded in Mpumalanga since yesterday

The Mpumalanga Department of Health has confirmed that the number of coronavirus cases in the province has increased to 17 100.

South Africa has recorded 529 877 confirmed infections, according to an announcement by the minister of health, Dr Zweli Mkhize, on Wednesday August 5.

A total of 17 100 of those cases have been reported in Mpumalanga. According to data released by the Mpumalanga Department of Health, there have been 11 632 recoveries and 139 deaths to date.

The number of positive cases in the province can be broken down as follows:

Ehlanzeni District

• Bushbuckridge: 451 cases, 316 recoveries and four deaths

• City of Mbombela: 2 548 cases, 1 471 recoveries and 10 deaths

• Nkomazi: 1 154 cases, 642 recoveries and four deaths

• Thaba Chweu: 243 cases and 157 recoveries

Gert Sibande District

• Chief Albert Luthuli: 440 cases, 265 recoveries and three deaths

• Dipaliseng: 270 cases and 231 recoveries

• Dr Pixely Ka Isaka Seme: 580 cases, 442 recoveries and five deaths

• Govan Mbeki: 2 399 cases, 1 632 recoveries and 22 deaths

• Lekwa: 820 cases, 560 recoveries and 23 deaths

• Mkhondo: 305 cases, 201 recoveries and 14 deaths

• Msukaligwa: 1 000 cases, 609 recoveries and eight deaths

Nkangala District

• Dr JS Moroka: 268 cases, 222 recoveries and five deaths

• eMakhazeni: 221 cases and 139 recoveries

• eMalahleni: 3 973 cases, 2 971 recoveries and 23 deaths

• Steve Tshwete: 1 580 cases, 1 089 recoveries and five deaths

• Thembisile Hani: 461 cases, 359 recoveries and four deaths

• Victor Khanye: 387 cases and 326 recoveries and four deaths.
