Covid-19: 5 688 new cases reported in SA bringing the total to 111 796
The number of Covid-19 recoveries in South Africa now stands at 56 874 translating to a recovery rate of 50,9%.

As of yesterday, 24 June, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa is at 111 796 with 5 688 new cases identified.
The case data per province is as follows:
Eastern Cape:
- 19 214 confirmed cases
- 17,1% of the country total
- 346 deaths
- 9 668 recoveries
Free State:
- 889 confirmed cases
- 0.8% of the country total
- 9 deaths
- 264 recoveries
Gauteng:
- 26 156 confirmed cases
- 23,4% of the country total
- 147 deaths
- 5 856 recoveries
KwaZulu-Natal:
- 6 075 confirmed cases
- 5,4% of the country total
- 91 deaths
- 2 947 recoveries
Limpopo:
- 670 confirmed cases
- 0,6% of the country total
- 5 deaths
- 303 recoveries
Mpumalanga:
- 713 confirmed cases
- 0,6% of the country total
- 2 deaths
- 199 recoveries
North West:
- 2 618 confirmed cases
- 2,3% of the country total
- 5 death
- 291 recoveries
Northern Cape:
- 299 confirmed cases
- 0.3% of the country total
- 1 death
- 112 recoveries
Western Cape:
- 55 162 confirmed cases
- 49,3% of the country total
- 1 599 deaths
- 37 234 recoveries
Unallocated cases:
- 0 confirmed cases
- 0.0% of the country total
A total number of 1 416 894 Covid-19 tests have been processed of which 34 122 tests have been conducted since the last report.
The Department of Health reports 103 more Covid-19 related deaths:
- 15 in Eastern Cape
- 63 in Western Cape
- 25 in Gauteng
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths in South Africa to 2 205.
The current mortality rate is at 2%.
The Department of Health extends its condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the health care workers who treated the deceased.
