Covid-19: Gauteng reports 826 recoveries
There are currently 46 Covid-19 positive patients hospitalised in both private and public facilities.

The Gauteng Department of Health has announced that as of Wednesday, 22 April, the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Gauteng stands at 1 224.
The province has reported 826 recoveries and the number of deaths still stands at seven. The total number of active cases now sits at 391.
Out of a total of 7 479 contacts traced, 2 975 people have completed the 14-day monitoring period with no symptoms reported and are now de-isolated.
There are currently 46 Covid-19 positive patients hospitalised in both private and public facilities.
With regard to health workers, 28 Gauteng Health Department employees have tested positive for the virus. With the exception of one person, who was discharged from hospital on Friday, April 17, all these cases are mild and did not require hospitalisation.
Provincial breakdown per district is as follows:
- Johannesburg – 726
- Ekurhuleni – 265
- Tshwane – 127
- Sedibeng – 11
- West Rand – 41
- Unallocated cases – 54
Gauteng Provincial Government stated that the process of disinfection continues at various facilities across the province.
