Covid-19 update: Number of confirmed cases in South Africa stands at 657 627
The number of recoveries currently stands at 586 844.

As of yesterday, 18 September, a total number of 657 627 confirmed Covid-19 cases in South Africa have been recorded with 2 055 new cases identified.
The total number of tests conducted to date is 4 003 590 with 20 057 new tests conducted since the last report.
The Department of Health (DoH) reports 85 new Covid-19 related deaths:
- 9 from KwaZulu-Natal
- 62 from Gauteng
- 7 from Western Cape
- 5 from Eastern Cape
- 2 from Northern Cape
This brings the total number of Covid-19 related deaths to 15 857.
The DoH conveys its condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thanks the health care workers who treated the deceased.
