Dagga plantation seized by police

A tip-off has led to the seizure of dagga plantation in the Nirvana Hills area in Pinetown, KwaZulu-Natal.

The plants were uprooted, and the exhibits were removed and taken to Malvern Police Station on Monday, Rising Sun Chatsworth reported.

Malvern police communications officer Warrant Officer Radhika Marimuthu said the station commander applauded the members on the partnership they had with the community, which enabled them to receive such information.

In a separate incident, an ordinary railway patrol led to the discovery of a dagga plantation in Lewisham, Krugersdorp, last month.

It is believed Gauteng railway police had been going about their normal day-to-day patrols when they stumbled upon a large dagga plantation.

The dagga plantation was allegedly grown around the railway lines and then harvested and sold to users.
