Dead man found at Joburg Zoo Lake

Investigations are under way after the discovery of a dead body at Zoo Lake in Johannesburg.

The body is believed to have been discovered by people on their morning walk earlier today, Rosebank Killarney Gazette reported.

Emergency Management Services and Parkview police were seen on the scene awaiting forensics earlier today.

According to a tweet from local councillor Tim Truluck, the man is believed to have been a homeless man.

In January, an inquest docket was opened by police after the naked body of a man was found on Margate Beach in KwaZulu-Natal.

The unidentified man’s body was found near a holiday flat by officers conducting foot patrols on the beach.

Police said there were no visible injuries on the man, who was believed to have been in his 30s.

His body was then taken to the Port Shepstone state mortuary.

This after the body of an unidentified man was found in Centurion Lake in December.

It is believed the man had died of natural causes. However, police would investigate the possibility of foul play.

The man’s body had been discovered when a security guard was patrolling the area.

Police could not confirm the exact details following the discovery, as investigations were ongoing.
