Durban woman throws children out of burning flat (video)

A video has emerged of a Durban woman tossing her two children out of a window in a desperate attempt to save them from a burning flat.

According to the timestamp on the video, the incident occurred last week Wednesday.

In the video, the mother is seen tossing a child from a second storey building, while people on the ground stand with a stretched out blanket.

The child is then caught by a person standing by a window on the floor below.

A second child is thrown from the burning flat and hits a window frame before being caught by onlookers on the ground.

The woman then follows, hitting a ledge before landing in the crowd. Bystanders then cover her with the blanket.

A man, believed to be her husband, is seen carefully climbing out of the burning flat and onto a ledge, before being helped to the ground by a group of bystanders.

In a separate incident, two children died after the flat they were in caught fire in Jabulani, Soweto earlier this year.

According to police, the children were left alone in the building when it caught fire, prompting neighbours to break down the door.

The children were later taken to hospital where they were pronounced dead.
