Elderly woman crashes into Durban pharmacy

An elderly woman sustained moderate injuries after she crashed her car into a pharmarcy in the north of Durban on Thursday afternoon.

She was reportedly attempting to park outside the popular dispensary. According to Kyle van Reenen of Crisis Medical, the woman had lost control of the vehicle, causing her to crash into the Northlands Pharmacy, North Glen News reported.

“Remarkably, no one else sustained any injuries. The driver was treated on scene before being taken through to a nearby hospital,” he said.

The store, however, was seriously damaged. The vehicle smashed through one of the shop’s windows before crashing into two display stands.

In another incident, a three-year-old girl was critically injured after a crash at the Witpoortjie Spar in Roodepoort, Gauteng, in January.

CCTV footage of the incident shows the girl walking on the pavement with her parents as a car drives over the pavement and pushes her through a window of the Spar.

The child, Zoey Tsotetsi, was rushed to Garden City Hospital in Johannesburg, where she spent five days in the intensive care unit with a cracked pelvis and bleeding liver. She also had to breathe through a ventilator.

In March it was reported that she was out of hospital and undergoing physical therapy for her right leg.
