Ermelo cop’s murder: Identities of 4 new suspects unveiled

Four more suspects appeared in an Ermelo court after their arrest in connection with conspiracy to commit murder and other charges.

Four more accused, three men and a woman, were arrested in Ermelo on Friday in connection with the murder of Lieutenant Colonel Piet Pretorius (59), the commander of the Vehicle Crime Investigation Unit.

Highvelder News reports that the four suspects: Vusi Shabalala (43), Njabulo Zwane (26), Percy Siyabonga Duba (30), and Phetheni Samaria Duba (37) appeared in the Ermelo Magistrate’s Court today. Their case was postponed to Thursday for a legal representative.

They were arrested on charges of conspiracy to commit murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and defeating the ends of justice.

This brings the total number of accused in the case to 10.

The latest arrests follow that of fugitive Prince Gift Mdluli, who was apprehended in Komatipoort on March 8.

Mdluli appeared in court last Monday, and his case was postponed to April 10, when he will join co-accused Mthobisi Nkosi (40), Aubrey Xaba (35), Skhumbuzo Skhakhane (40), and Nyiko Mujovo (30), who abandoned their bail application. Valencia Skhosana (35) is proceeding with her bail application.
