Eskom increases load-shedding to stage 4
A higher stage of power cuts was implemented earlier this morning.

Eskom says they had to increase power cuts to stage 4 at 05:26.
This is, according to them, due to breakdowns amounting to a loss of 17 056MW in generation capacity.
“Other reasons for the increase in the stage of load-shedding is low pumped storage, low dam levels and a lack of diesel,” the power utility says.

Eskom says this stage of power cuts will remain in effect ‘until further notice’.
The power utility’s COO, Jan Oberholzer, earlier this week announced that they have already spent more than R12b on burning diesel this year.
“Eskom does not have the money to burn diesel anymore,” he added in a media briefing on Tuesday.
