Gauteng Covid-19 cases climb to 24 041

The department said out of 23 803 contacts traced (individuals who were in contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19), 15 767 people have completed the 14 days monitoring period with no symptoms reported and were de-isolated.

The department said 956 people were currently hospitalised in public and private facilities.

Breakdown per district of cases and recoveries:

• Johannesburg: 11 962 cases and 3 187 recoveries
• Ekurhuleni: 4 857 cases and 1 248 recoveries
• Tshwane: 3 660 cases and 826 recoveries
• Sedibeng: 804 cases and 110 recoveries
• West Rand: 1 641 cases and 485 recoveries
