High-calibre weapons and bomb used in Gauteng and KZN cash-in-transit heists
While two security guards were injured in one cash-in-transit heist, no injuries were reported in the other.
Two cash-in-transit heists, one in Gauteng and one in KZN, took place earlier today.
According to an article published by Krugersdorp News, police confirmed that two security guards were injured during a CIT heist in Chamdor in Krugersdorp on Gauteng’s West Rand earlier today.
At about 10:30, police were involved in a high-speed chase that saw four vehicles allegedly attempting to hijack a CIT van on Adcock Street near Leratong Hospital.
According to police communications officer Karen du Plessis, a bomb was set off and shots were fired.

“We suspect that at least 10 robbers were involved in the heist; two of the three security officers protecting the vehicle sustained minor injuries,” says Du Plessis.
The robbers fled from the scene.
No arrests have been made as yet and no other information was available at the time of publishing.
CIT robbery in Isipingo Rail
A CIT robbery also took place in Isipingo Rail, KZN, this morning, and shots were fired.

According to an article published by the South Coast Sun, PT Alarms spokesperson Dhevan Govindasamy said the incident unfolded in Thomas Lane, where an unknown number of robbers brandishing high-calibre firearms executed the heist.
“An undisclosed amount of cash is alleged to have been taken. While shots were fired, no injuries have been reported at this point,” said Govindasamy.
