Identikit of decomposed man in suitcase released
An identikit from the reconstructed face of a crime victim has been released by police in Erasmia, Pretoria.
His decomposed remains were found in a suitcase near the R511 in Hennops on October 1 last year, Rekord Centurion reported.
At the time, a 62-year-old man reported the matter to police after his employees found the grey suitcase while doing maintenance for Telkom in the area, police spokesperson Constable Tumisang Moloto said.
“The remains were taken from the scene by forensic expects for analysis, and the face of the middle-aged victim was reconstructed, and the identikit was released,” he said.
Moloto added the man appeared to be of Asian or Indian descent and aged between 37 and 50. He appealed to anyone who might know or recognise the man to call investigating officer Peter Nkuna on 082 410 7466.
Last week, an inquest docket was opened after the partially decomposed body of a man was found near a tree at a church in Ramsgate, KwaZulu-Natal.
Police spokesperson Captain Gerald Mfeka said the man had been positively identified by his family as Thulani Nicholas Sibiya, who had been reported missing two weeks ago. Police found a piece of rope on the deceased’s neck and on the tree.
