Info sought after fire guts classrooms and offices at Mpumalanga school

Authorities are investigating after a fire severely damaged Crocodile Valley Primary School, with classrooms and admin facilities burnt.

A fire broke out at Crocodile Valley Primary School in Mayfern Village, Mbombela, last night.

According to Mpumalanga News, the Mpumalanga Department of Education (DoE) confirmed the incident, saying the fire caused significant damage to the school’s infrastructure.

Three classrooms, the administrative office and staff ablution facilities were affected. Laptops, printers, files and cupboards were destroyed.

The cause of the fire is currently unknown.

The DoE said its infrastructure team would visit the school tomorrow to assess the full extent of the damage and advise on the course of action to be undertaken.

The public is urged to inform the police of any information they may have regarding the incident.
