Investigations underway following JHB shooting

A 23-year-old man was taken to the nearest hospital after a shooting incident in Sunninghill.

Netcare 911 responded to a shooting on Leeuwkop Road, Sunninghill in Johannesburg on Friday at approximately 18:14.

“Reports indicate an adult male had been shot whilst waiting to enter a local shopping centre. Medics assessed the scene and found that the 23-year-old patient had sustained a gunshot wound to his right upper leg,” explained Netcare 911 commutations officer Shawn Herbst.

“The patient was treated on scene by an advanced life support paramedic and once stabilised was transported by ambulance to a hospital for further care.”

The police were on the scene and will investigate the circumstances leading up to the incident.
