Jockey murder trial to resume in September
The trial of former jockey, Graham Gregorowski, who has been charged for the alleged murder of Janet Scott, has been set for September.
Scott, 54, was found dead in Gregorowski’s bed in a cottage in Shongweni on the morning of October 15, 2016.
The case will continue in the Durban High Court and will resume from where it left off in March, with evidence being led by state prosecutor, Adv Krishen Shah.
A forensic pathologist, who examined Scott’s body, described her injuries to the court in graphic detail in March.
In March, Adv Trisha Marisa Moonsamy represented the accused, but according to Shah, Gregorowski dismissed Moonsamy in March which caused the trial to grind to a halt.
This is not the first time the trial has been delayed by the accused dismissing his legal counsel.
Loadshedding also caused numerous delays in the two weeks that the court sat before the accused dismissed his counsel in March.
The trial will now continue almost four years after Scott’s death.
