Limpopo farm murder accused denied bail
Patricia Ray-Lee Smith (23), arrested in connection with the murder of Raymond Gregory Papapavlou (28), was denied bail.
Smith re-appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court yesterday (Monday, 9 November) for a formal bail application, Review Online reports.
The case was postponed to 2 December for further investigation, says Mashudu Malabi Dzhangi, Regional Spokesperson for the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Limpopo.
Raymond Gregory Papapavlou (28) was shot and killed on a farm in the Rooikraal area outside Groblersdal on 5 October. According to an earlier police report, the police arrived on the scene to find the wife of the deceased with other members of the community.
The bullet-riddled body of the deceased was found in one of the rooms. Groblersdal Police Spokesperson, Adj Officer Stanley Magaela earlier said that Papapavlou was shot five times.
There weren’t any signs of a struggle and Papapavlou was declared dead at the scene. He added that during the incident the wife reportedly shot several warning shots.
Smith was arrested on Wednesday, 28 October. She reportedly used to work with the deceased and his wife and faces a charge of conspiracy to murder.
