Limpopo policewoman arrested for allegedly killing her son

A female police officer is due to appear in court today after allegedly killing her son and seriously injuring his girlfriend during an argument.

A case of murder and attempted murder has been opened against a 49-year-old policewoman from the Botlokwa Police Station in Limpopo.

According to an article published by Polokwane Review, the woman was arrested last Thursday after she allegedly shot and killed her son (25) and injured his 16-year-old girlfriend at her house in Mokomene Mashaha.

Police spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba says police were summoned to the scene by the suspect, who related what had transpired following a heated argument with her son.

“Upon arrival with paramedics, the police found the suspect’s son motionless, with gunshot wounds, holding a sharp instrument in his hand.

“A minor was also shot and sustained serious injuries and was transported to a local hospital for medical attention,” he adds.

Ledwaba says the officer was arrested and an investigation is underway.

He confirmed that the case is being handled by the Independent Police Investigative Directorate.

The suspect is due to appear in the Morebeng Magistrate’s Court today.
