Load-shedding continues until Friday

Stage 6 will once again be implemented this afternoon while lower stages of load-shedding will continue in the coming days after

Despite indications that the upcoming wage negotiations will be positive – and unions, therefore, urging their members to ‘normalise the situation’ at power stations – Eskom says that many workers have failed to report for work.

The manpower shortage as a result of the illegal strike has caused routine maintenance to be postponed. This has caused a backlog that will take days and even weeks to clear, Eskom says.

The load-shedding schedule for today until Friday morning is as follows:

  • Today from 16:00 until 22:00 – stage 6.
  • Tonight from 22:00 until midnight – stage 4.
  • From midnight until 05:00 tomorrow – stage 2.
  • Tomorrow from 05:00 until midnight – stage 4.
  • From midnight tomorrow until 05:00 on Friday – stage 2.

Eskom says 3 161MW are currently on planned maintenance while 17 395MW are unavailable due to unplanned breakdowns.

The power utility warned that load-shedding schedules can change at short notice.
