Load-shedding update: Stage 6 from tomorrow until further notice

The ramped-up blackouts are because of six units that are currently offline for various reasons.

Eskom says planned maintenance and the breakdown of two additional units have necessitated the implementation of stage 6 power cuts from tomorrow at 05:00.

The power utility says units at Lethabo and Matla power stations had to be taken offline for urgent repairs.

Units at Kriel and Medupi power stations are offline while the return of units at Hendrina and Tutuka has been delayed.

Breakdowns currently amount to 16 210MW and planned maintenance 5 894MW.
