Man arrested for stabbing wife’s ‘boyfriend’ to death

A 35-year-old man has been arrested for the murder of a 33-year-old man in Kamaqhekeza, Mpumalanga.

According to the police, the perpetrator had suspected the deceased was having an affair with his wife, when he allegedly stabbed the man on Friday, Mpumalanga News reported.

“We condemn the actions of the community members for assaulting the suspect. We were called to the scene, where we were met by the deceased’s body laying cold in a pool of blood, with stab wounds on his neck and stomach.

“The suspect was immediately arrested, and is now under police guard at the local hospital,” said Toga police spokesperson Lieutenant Mzwandile Nyambi.

The suspect is due to appear before the Nkomazi Magistrates’ Court soon, while police have appealed to the community to stop taking matters into their own hands.

“Nothing can be solved through violence, the police will ensure that anyone involved in any crime activities will be arrested, as the law is always ready to take its course in dealing with such people. Let us live together as a unity and fight against crime,” said Nyambi.

Last month, a 40-year-old man was arrested for murder after he allegedly found the deceased sleeping with his wife in Bangani Location, Dutywa, Eastern Cape.

Police spokesperson Captain Jackson Manatha said the suspect assaulted the man with a stick on the upper body.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the 28-year-old man dead. They arrested the suspect and charged him with murder, added Manatha.

Last year, a middle-aged Mamelodi taxi driver, who injured his common-law wife and killed her lover when he burnt down the room in which they were conducting an affair, was sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment.

Judge Thokozile Masipa (the presiding judge in the Oscar Pretorius trial) sentenced 54-year-old Hans Isaacs to 30 years’ imprisonment, of which he has to serve 15 years, for the February 2013 murder of Zimbabwean citizen Chris Sibanda, attempting to murder his common-law wife Virginia Ramodike, and setting Sibanda’s room alight.
