Man dies in Johannesburg house fire

Police are investigating the cause of the fire in Kya Sands.

An elderly man died in a house fire in the Farmall district of Kya Sands in Johannesburg on April 13.

ER24 paramedics were on the scene along with the fire department and Fire Ops SA at 12:10.

“A small wooden house was found to be on fire. Unfortunately, once the fire had been extinguished, the body of an elderly man was found inside the remains of the completely gutted house,” explained ER24’s spokesperson, Ross Campbell.

The man was declared dead on the scene by another private medical service in attendance.

“The cause of the fire, as well as the identity of the man, are unknown to ER24, however, the fire department and the South African Police Service were on scene for further investigations,” he said.
