Man found with his mother’s decapitated head sent to Pretoria psychiatric hospital
A 25-year-old Hercules, Pretoria man who was allegedly found carrying his mother’s decapitated head in September has been referred to Weskoppies psychiatric hospital by the Pretoria magistrate’s court.
Tinashe Chitsere was arrested in Montshiwastad village, North West, on 12 September. He was found with his mother’s head in a bag.
On Monday he made a court appearance at which it was ruled that he should undergo psychiatric assessment.
Police spokesperson Brigadier Sabata Mokgwabone said Chitsere allegedly admitted to killing his mother on 7 September in Hercules.
“Members of the flying squad acted on a tip-off about a suspect who allegedly killed his mother and put her head in a bag. On arrival at the scene, the police found the bag in the suspect’s possession. During the search, a human head was found inside the bag.”
Mokgwabone said Chitsere appeared in Molopo magistrate’s court in Mmabatho, North West, on 14 September and the matter was sent back to the Hercules police as the alleged murder was committed in Pretoria.
“The matter will resume in court on 7 January 2021, for Chitsere to face charges of possession of human body parts.”
