Man suspected of Mamelodi girlfriend’s murder hands himself over in Limpopo

The bodies of Itumeleng Beverly Makhura and her daughter were discovered in the man’s home in March and police have been looking for him since then.

A 31-year-old man accused of killing his girlfriend and her 11-year-old child has handed himself over to police after months of being on the run.

The man was arrested at Lebowakgomo in Limpopo province after he handed himself over to the police.

He is accused of the March 20 murder of Itumeleng Beverly Makhura (31) who went missing at the time in Nellmapius, Mamelodi.

Makhura had gone missing on March 18 allegedly after she visited a local tavern with the suspect.

The search for Makhura came to a tragic end on the evening of March 20 when she was found dead underneath the suspect’s bed. Her daughter’s body was found also found at the suspect’s home.

Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Isaac Mculu says the girl’s body was found by members of the community and family who were searching for her mother.

The man is expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court today. The outcome was not known at the time of publishing.
