Man tragically dies in water tanker

A co-worker raised the alarm after a man painting the interior of a tanker suddenly stopped responding.

A routine ‘piece-job’ turned fatal yesterday afternoon after a man lost his life while working inside a water tanker.

The man was painting the interior of the tanker when the incident occurred.

Witbank News reports that his co-worker, Thabo Mange, checked on him periodically throughout the day and became concerned when he did not hear him inside the water tanker. He immediately raised the alarm and called for assistance.

The man, whose identity is being withheld until his family formally identifies him, was declared dead on the scene by paramedics from Bophelo Ambulance Services, but people on the scene say his girlfriend broke down when she saw his lifeless body.

A full investigation will be done to determine the cause of death.
