Man treated for hypothermia in Mossel Bay after ‘swim from Groot Brak River to PetroSA’s Orca’
"There were rough sea conditions last night and no boats were out on the water, so we believe he might have swum there."
A man who apparently swam in the ocean from Great Brak River to PetroSA’s Orca in Mossel Bay waters, is currently being treated at the Orca for hypothermia.
Mossel Bay police spokesperson, Warrant Officer Pieter Koekemoer says police are still investigating how the man got to the Orca.
“There were rough sea conditions last night and no boats were out on the water, so we believe he might have swum there.”
He was found at about 04:30 today.
Police will fly out by helicopter this afternoon to arrest the 28-year-old suspect. He will be arrested for contravening the National Keypoint Act. It contravenes state security rules to enter oil rigs or operational areas of harbours or airports and so forth, without authorisation.
