Man(29) stabbed to death by pregnant girlfriend in Diepkloof

According to a statement released by Diepkloof SAPS spokesperson, captain Phephi Matlou, a case of domestic violence was reported on Sunday at the Diepkloof police station.

“It is alleged that the couple was fighting and the girlfriend (suspect) who is 7 months pregnant then took a knife and stabbed the deceased on the upper body, allegedly trying to defend herself.

“It was reported that this tragic incident happened after the deceased kicked her on the stomach. The deceased was an alleged abusive boyfriend and always assaulted his girlfriend. The two stayed together where they were tenants and this incident took place there,” said Matlou.

According to Motlou an eyewitness states that, after being stabbed, the deceased tried to run outside but fell outside the yard.

Paramedics were called to the scene and on arrival, they declared the boyfriend dead.

A case of murder has been opened and the suspect, who was arrested, will appear in court soon.

Diepkloof SAPS station commander, Brigadier Makgomo Maake is appealing to the community that anyone who is a victim of Domestic Violence should report the matter to the police, and the community must use the services of the Victim Friendly Room at the Police Station so as they can be referred to Domestic Violence Court if they don’t wish to open cases or be referred to Lifeline.
