Masked robbers injure caretaker in 4-hour Pretoria plot raid

A man was left injured and bound while intruders reportedly stole appliances, building materials and household goods from a Bultfontein property.

A caretaker was allegedly repeatedly struck with a brick and tied up during a robbery at a Bultfontein plot in Pretoria around midnight last night (October 14).

The Lusthof Grondeienaars Vereeniging NPO (LGV) and AfriForum’s Apiesrivier branch reported that the suspects forced open a sliding door before cutting through a security gate, reports Pretoria Rekord.

They allegedly overpowered the caretaker, struck him on the head and leg with a brick and bound his hands behind his back.

The robbery took place at a property in Wag ’n Bietjie Street and continued into the early hours of this morning (October 15).

The caretaker only managed to seek help from neighbours at daybreak, after which assistance was dispatched to the scene.

The suspects reportedly made off with a stove, a geyser, groceries, electrical cables, pots, two new gates, a small angle grinder and seven wooden doors. House and gate keys and a cellphone were also reported stolen, while the electrical distribution board was listed as damaged or stolen.

The organisations said police and GPG attended the scene.

Police had not confirmed the incident or provided further details at the time of publishing.
