Missing man found dead in Mpumalanga river

While the body of a man who disappeared two weeks ago has been found, the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear.

Ntakadzeni Mutati (38), who went missing on his way to work in Middelburg, Mpumalanga, on September 1, has been found dead in the Klein Olifants River.

Mutati’s wife formally identified her husband at the Middelburg State Mortuary yesterday, after receiving a distressing call from the Middelburg Pathology Department this week informing her that her husband’s lifeless body had been retrieved from the river.

On the day he went missing, he was driving a blue Renault Kiger, with number plate KV 44TD GP, which is still unaccounted for.

Although the circumstances surrounding his death remain unclear, there is suspicion that he may have been the victim of a hijacking.

Middelburg SAPS has launched an investigation into Mutati’s death.

Funeral arrangements have yet to be confirmed.
