Missing Pretoria east man found dead in Vereeniging
The body of a man who left home for a meeting and didn’t return has been found with multiple gunshot wounds.
Police are investigating a case of hijacking, kidnapping and murder after a Pretoria east man was found dead with gunshot wounds in Vereeniging.
SAPS spokesperson Warrant Officer Johan van Dyk says Garsfontein police are investigating a case of murder following Riaan van Lingen’s disappearance.
Van Lingen was reported missing on Monday after he left home for a meeting in Olifantsfontein in Ekurhuleni.
His family last communicated with him at 13:50 on the day of his disappearance, and he was last seen in Moreletapark.
Van Lingen, who lived in Wingate Park Golf estate, was expected to be home by 17:00 on Monday.
The tracker in his white double-cab Ford Ranger was switched off.
Van Dyk says Van Lingen’s body was found with multiple gunshot wounds yesterday.
It is reported that a large sum of money was withdrawn from his account, however, police have yet to confirm this.
Pretoria Rekord has received information about possible arrests in the case but has not yet received confirmation from the police.
