Mother and son linked to suspected murder of male nurse in Middelburg
The duo were arrested after the body of Trueman Nkabinde was exhumed from a residential yard in Mhluzi, Middelburg yesterday.
The provincial police in Mpumalanga revealed that a 32 year-old male and his 57 year-old mother were arrested on Wednesday, after an investigation revealed that the woman attempted to mislead the investigation by giving police false information where after her son was traced via a car belonging to the deceased.
A press release issued by the provincial commissioner’s office indicate that on February 26, Nkabinde (56) as well as the male suspect were reported as missing at Mhluzi SAPS.
During the probe it was indicated that Nkabinde’s car, a red Fiat Picanto, had a tracking device and it was activated. This development assisted in the investigation as it lead the detectives to Themba, Hammanskraal where the vehicle was located.
The investigators furthered their search for their suspect until they arrested the said woman, who finally admitted that she tried to misdirect the investigation by reporting that her son as well as Nkabinde as missing.
Her son was then arrested on Wednesday at Mpheleng, Dennilton.
His arrest also lead to the victim’s body being exhumed today around 15h00 at Mhluzi.
The suspect was charged accordingly but the motive for the killing is unknown at this stage.
The male suspect is expected to appear before the Middelburg Magistrate’s Court on Friday, on charges of murder alongside his mother who is facing a charge of perjury and defeating the end of justice.
