Motorists once again in for another fuel shocker
Weak rand once again to blame.
Fuel prices will once again break records for all the wrong reasons this coming Wednesday (3 October), Roodepoort Record reports.
In an official statement, the Energy Fund has announced that 93 octane petrol will rise by 99c per litre and 95 octane petrol by R1 per litre. This means that inland motorists will cough up more than R17 per litre for 95 octane petrol.
These prices are the highest in the history of South Africa.
Diesel will also rise by R1,24 per litre and illuminating paraffin by R1,04 per litre wholesale.
The hike in prices has been attributed to the weak rand.
According to the Automobile Association, the country’s “chaotic economic policy” has also contributed to the hike and left the country vulnerable to international rises in oil prices.
